Terms and Conditions

Effective 11 October 2026 · Version 1.0 · Review: after our first 2027 event, and at least annually.

Please read these terms before you apply. By submitting the application form and ticking the declarations, you agree to them.

1. About these terms

1.1These terms apply to every author, publisher, trader and service provider (“you”) who applies to take part in a TaleRow book festival or event (“the event”). TaleRow is a joint venture by authors Jonas Lane and Ellis Greaves and currently trades under Trois Étoiles Press Ltd (Companies House number 16870905) (“we”, “us”).

1.2Your place is confirmed once we have accepted your application and received your card payment. You must be over 18, and must give accurate information on your application and tell us if anything changes before the event.

1.3You are responsible for anyone who works at or visits your stall on your behalf. You may not share or sublet your space without our written permission.

2. Fees and payment

2.1The fee per event is £40 for authors and £45 for bookish traders. Each fee includes a 6ft table and 2 chairs.

2.2Once we have accepted your application, we will email you a secure link to pay by card. Your place is not held until payment is received.

3. Cancellation and refunds

3.1To cancel, email talerow@troisetoilespress.com. Your cancellation takes effect on the date we receive it.

3.2If you cancel within 14 days of booking (the date we receive your payment), we will refund your fee in full, unless the event is less than 14 days away (see 3.4).

3.3If you cancel more than 14 days after booking, and more than 14 days before the event, we will refund 50% of your fee.

3.4If you cancel within 14 days before the event, or do not attend, no refund is due.

3.5If you cannot attend because of illness or an emergency, please tell us as soon as you can. We may, at our discretion, offer a refund or move your booking to a later event.

3.6If we cancel the event, or the venue closes or cannot be used, we will refund your fee in full. We are not liable for any other costs you have incurred, such as travel, accommodation or stock.

4. Generative AI Policy

4.1Our Generative AI Policy is a separate document and forms part of these terms. You must declare any AI-generated content on the application form, and you must read the policy before you apply.

5. Nut-free event and food

5.1Food and drink may not be sold at our events.

5.2Our events are nut-free to protect visitors and other traders with allergies. You must not sell, give away, sample or display any product containing peanuts or tree nuts (including almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, chestnuts, hazelnuts, macadamias, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios and walnuts), or made with nut oils, nut flours, nut butters, marzipan or praline.

5.3This covers any edible items, gifts, freebies and goody-bag items and non-food items such as skincare, soaps or balms made with nut oils or extracts. Items labelled “may contain nuts” are not allowed. Please do not bring or eat nut products at your stall, and check labels carefully.

5.4We will take reasonable steps to keep the event nut-free, but we cannot guarantee it, as visitors may bring items in. We may ask you to remove any item that breaks this rule.

6. Insurance and liability

6.1You must have public liability insurance and a copy must be sent to us no later than 28 days before the date of the event.

6.2If your policy does not cover the date of the event (for example because it expires before then), you must send us a certificate covering the event date at least 28 days before the event.

6.3You are responsible for your own stock, equipment and possessions. We and the venue are not liable for loss, theft or damage to them.

6.4You are responsible for any injury, loss or damage caused by you, your helpers or your goods, and you will compensate us and the venue for any resulting claims, except where we or the venue were negligent or the premises were defective. You must pay on demand for any damage you cause to the venue, other than fair wear and tear.

6.5Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot legally be limited.

7. Venue rules

7.1Where the event is held at Market Harborough Congregational Church (“the Church”), the Church’s rules also apply to you. The event is on the ground floor only. Please tell us on the form if you or someone with you has access needs. The key rules are:

  • Keep fire exits, corridors and gangways clear. Look out for the emergency exits on arrival and follow the evacuation procedure in an emergency.
  • No smoking or vaping anywhere inside the building or on the church site.
  • No alcohol may be brought or consumed.
  • Do not bring highly flammable substances. Do not use heaters or electrical appliances unless we have approved them, and any electrical item you bring must have a valid PAT test label or certificate (tested within the last three years).
  • We will give each exhibitor a bin bag. Please put all your rubbish in it and leave it where we ask at the end of the event.
  • Take away all your stock, tables and equipment at the end of the event. Nothing may be left or stored on the premises. Leave your area clean and tidy.
  • Tell us about any accident or injury so it can be recorded in the Church’s Accident Book.

7.2The Church may close or restrict the venue at its discretion, for example in an emergency. Section 3.6 then applies.

8. Conduct and concerns

8.1Please treat visitors, other traders, volunteers and venue staff with courtesy and respect. We may ask anyone to leave who does not.

8.2If you have a concern about another trader, including a suspected breach of the Generative AI Policy, email talerow@troisetoilespress.com with what you have seen. Please do not confront them or post about them on social media, in event groups or at the event. Publicly alleging a breach before we have reviewed it may breach these terms.

8.3We will treat concerns confidentially as far as practicable, let the trader respond in writing, and reply within 14 days. Concerns raised in good faith will not count against the person reporting them. Outcomes range from no action to relabelling, removal from display or declining future bookings.

9. Your information

9.1Trois Étoiles Press Ltd is the data controller for the information you give us.

9.2We use your details to run the event, take payment and contact you about your booking. We keep them securely for 12 months and share them only with those organising the event and, where needed, the venue.

9.3You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information by emailing talerow@troisetoilespress.com.

10. General

10.1We may update these terms and will give you notice by email before any change affects a booking you have already made. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
