About TaleRow

TaleRow is a new multi-genre indie book festival, organised by two authors, Jonas Lane and Ellis Greaves. We’re bringing independent authors and bookish traders together with readers who love to discover something new. Every genre is welcome, from children’s and YA to romance, thrillers, fantasy and non-fiction.

Why Market Harborough?

Market Harborough is a historic Leicestershire market town with a real love of books and storytelling. It is home to its own literary festival, which fills local venues with author talks and signings, a books, arts and crafts festival where local authors sell their work, and its own Waterstones. It’s a welcoming town for readers, writers and makers, and we can’t think of a better place to start TaleRow.

A balanced mix of genres

To make sure every visitor finds something to love, we’ll only be offering a limited number of tables in each genre. This keeps the day varied for readers and fair for everyone exhibiting, so please let us know which genre you write or trade in when you register your interest.

We hope to follow Market Harborough with more TaleRow events in other towns, including Christmas events.

Meet the organisers

Two authors, one festival

We have both stood behind the author table at plenty of fairs, and now we’re building the event we always wanted to trade at.

Jonas

Author & co-organiser

Jonas is an author and educator with more than sixteen books to his name, mostly fantasy and science fiction. He is classed as a children’s and YA author, but his stories appeal to readers of all ages, and he has found a loyal audience among adults at the book fairs and festivals he attends. He has been published nationally and given live readings. Alongside his writing, Jonas visits schools to run assemblies and creative writing workshops.

Melissa

Author & co-organiser

As Ellis Greaves, Melissa writes children’s and YA fiction, great for reluctant readers. As A.B. Esson, she writes adult romance and psychological thrillers. A former English teacher with a background in psychology, she brings that into her stories, including neurodivergent characters. Melissa is also the independent publisher behind Trois Étoiles Press and, as an exhibitor, knows what authors and bookish traders want from a fair.

Tables will be limited in each genre to keep the festival balanced, so tell us what you write or sell and we’ll build the mix from there.
